I was utterly fascinated by the red wooden box used as a reference in the painting. It was obviously created for a child and handcrafted with great love. It features a decal of a penguin shaving and the promise of treasures inside, very private, very sacred. A toy tiger prowls the lip of the drawer in pursuit of a rolling marble - a signature, reoccuring element in many of my still life paintings.
